THE A-GAMES
Everyday Victories Across The Country
The
CreakyJoints team has begun work on the A-Games, local one-day swimming
instruction workshops with a capacity of 30 people per city. The
A-Games will be a full day of swimming and classroom instruction
by three professional swim coaches who have taught and coached swimming
nationally. Did we mention that the A-Games will be free? Participants
will need to provide us with some general feedback so that we can
improve as we go along, but there will be no fees and no hidden
costs whatsoever.
We
want your recommendations for A-Games cities. A recommended city
needs to have the following:
1.
The obvious: A pool. It can be either a public or private facility
that we could rent for a day (probably Sunday). In addition, it
must be able to hold at least 30 people, and be 25 yards, or close
to it. Temperature must be a minimum of 80 degrees, and there must
be a portion of the pool where people can stand while receiving
instruction. Recreational pools will not suffice - so if it's shaped
like a kidney or has fancy tiles and would be suitable for a pool
party, it probably won't make the cut. Remember this must be a pool
where you are taught how to swim (laps) and balance.
2.
A room for classroom instruction. There will be video taping in
the pool and we will re-play it in class. There will also be discussion
groups and lectures.
3.
An excited Arthritis Foundation. We at CreakyJoints have never met
someone at the Arthritis Foundation that we didn't like, which is
why we don't expect to find a Branch that isn't excited about the
A-Games. Almost all chapters and branches have heard about us, as
we frequently do events in conjunction with them when we're on the
road. Perhaps that's where you heard about CreakyJoints in the first
place. A-Games will be local, and could very well be turned into
a fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation as well. We're
enthusiastic about working with you no matter where the events will
be held.
4.
And finally, but often overlooked, the weather must be in agreement
with the events. If you live up north and are unable to predict
weather 4 months in advance, an indoor facility is a must. If you
live in Hawaii, your city is automatically nominated. (Maybe I'm
just kidding, maybe not.)
Nominating your city or town is easy. The first step is to make
sure these general guidelines are met or could be met, submit your
name and info below. Somebody from the CreakyJoints team will contact
you within the next couple days to talk to you in more detail. Or
if you have questions, submit them below, and you'll get a quick
response.
