"Good Riddance" and "Lullabye"
A pair of poems by Jennifer Bailey

Good Riddance

Go ahead.
Plunge the needle through my thick skin
Like a jackhammer to concrete
Break me into bits
Particles as tiny as dust
That's all we are anyway, right
Pull the plunger - take my blood
It's poison to me
Good Riddance.

Lullabye

Lord, Bless my soul
Weary of neglect and pain
Lord, bless these flowers
Fed by your holy rain
Let this rain fall
To all in need of love
Let holy water wash my wrists
And cleanse them of ill blood
Holy Mary, mother of God
Wife to the Most High
Whisper to my mommy of
The reasons why
Jesus, I pray to you so
That I may cease to breathe -
A perfect natural cure
To rid me of disease
Angels, take me to your precious kingdom
Sing me peacefully to sleep
I will awake inside this church
Hold my friends while they weep
Axl said there's a heaven above
See, you should not cry
For one day you too shall fall asleep
This angel will sing your lullabye
