Strange Relief. It's probably not terrorism.
Another plane crashed and more lives were lost this week. And it's difficult sometimes to put one paw in front of the other these days, and not only because I've got arthritis. It's not a good sign when I'm relieved that it doesn't seem to be terrorism that took 265 lives. What does that say about our reality?
It's like when you learn the pain in your hips doesn't mean you need a replacement, just a higher dose NSAID. It would be better if the pain weren't there at all, but since it is, it's good to know you can keep your own bones.
But that's the pain we know. Terrorism isn't. So it's more stark to be relieved that it looks like, for now, the plane crash was just your garden variety, drop from the sky, plane wreck. At least that was the enemy we know.
I never want to get used to terrorism the way I'm used to my arthritis.
