Spring Resolutions
Well, good old Creak has some good news, and some bad news. The bad news is the rumors of new kennels at RiverWoods were decidedly false. Looks like the CIA (Canine Intelligence Agency) needs to review its sources for these important matters. The good news is that for most of us it looks like winter is finally over, and for me, it means I don't have to stay cooped up in that doghouse anymore than I have to. As much as I enjoy watching the snow fall, it only means I park myself in front of the live broadcasts of the Westminster Dog Show rather than moving around. The less active I am, the more I stay true to my name, and that isn't necessarily a positive thing.
Since spring has decided to grace us with its presence, its time for Creak to get outside and please the folks around here with a solid 30 seconds of fetch. Maybe even let them try and chase me down. I'll probably have to break out the old track shoes, see if they still fit. Bottom line is its high time I got off my can. The new warmth and the sun have inspired me to new action, as it should all Arthritis sufferers. Take a daily walk. Patrol the yard. When it gets really warm some day, check out the old pool and get wet. Sometimes it helps to call up on a bunch of friends from the pound and have them join you. Group motivation really helps, or in my case, gives me a few more dogs to complain about the stale doggy biscuits with. Take the new season as an opportunity to get active and feel twenty years younger.
Perhaps a 'spring resolution' would help. I made my own spring resolution, and that was to get in good enough shape so that I can start chasing down little kids on their bikes again. Yes, the reign of terror will be coming back to my little corner of the world by June, mark my words. Maybe such a goal (just don't steal my idea) will help speed those of us living with Arthritis, and give us something to look forward to. I know it's helping me; I've already started casing the block again. I've got to go run -- these kids will never see it coming.
