Sweet and Simple

Dear Ms. Meniscus,

I love this.

-Bob

Dear Bob,

Thanks. You're a simple, happy guy who probably turns in his expenses on time and isn't worried about his body.

Married To The Job

Dear Ms. Meniscus,

My husband is a workaholic and neglects his expense reports ("no time to turn them in"). He is also very unhappy at work; not with the job, but with the people. This is very frustrating, since he has even had to travel out of state, putting his expenses on his personal credit card. He is so busy and has customers all over the world that e-mail him during their business hours, which in some cases is our middle of the night or very early. My husband feels he may not be able to find another job at his age, however since he is also on medication for depression, I feel he is worsening his condition by putting up with this unreliable company. I don't think I will be able to stay married to someone in this situation. He has us approximately $20,000 in debt, due to finance charges and late fees, and expenses not turned in. What would you recommend?

-Niece

Dear Niece,

Do his expenses for him. Don't argue with me, just do them. Do them tonight. You will feel much better and be able to deal with his and your problems rationally when this huge debt is not crushing the life out of you. If you cannot pay off the credit card debt, seriously consider bankruptcy. Talk to a bankruptcy attorney. With interest rates the way they are today, you may never be able to pay off your cards unless you get a big check from your husband's company. Be smart. Decide whether you want to pay this off for the rest of your life or declare bankruptcy. Please talk to an attorney if you can't pay this off quickly.

Do I Look Fat In This?

Dear Ms. Meniscus,

I am really insecure about my body. I weigh 100 lbs. and my height is 5 ft. 4 in. All I think about is my weight and how to lose it. And, I hate my breasts. I wear a size A, but I still hate them. I keep slouching in order to hide them. Please, can you help me to become less self-aware?

-Sad

Dear Sad,

You have body dysmorphia. This means you are not able to look at yourself objectively. You are not overweight. You must take the simple answer I'm going to give you: Go see a therapist. Check with your local hospital or clinic to find one you can afford. This is a cureable condition. Don't live this way.
